2022 Winter Code Updates

Wisconsin’s regional inspector associations, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services, Industry Services Division, are offering virtual and in-person training sessions in early 2022 about Wisconsin’s Electrical Code, Uniform Dwelling Code, Plumbing Code and Commercial Building Code.  These courses can provide continuing education credits for Industry Services administered inspection and DCQ credentials.  Fire inspectors, designers, contractors, and others with an interest in Wisconsin's codes may also benefit from the programs.

CLASS HIGHLIGHTS

  • All training sessions will be available both virtually (online) and in-person.
  • All in-person sessions include a lunch or dinner meal.
  • The price for all daytime training sessions is $120.  The two evening sessions in Lake Delton are $60 each.
  • Daytime sessions are 6 hours of continuing education credits, evening sessions are 3 hours each.
  • Daytime sessions begin at 7:45 am and conclude at 3:30 pm.  There will be a morning and afternoon break, and one hour lunch break.  Doors open, registration and check in begins at 7:00 am.
  • Evening sessions run from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with registration, dinner and check in beginning at 5:00 pm.
  • All class information and registration instructions are found online at the link listed above.  All class materials and handouts will automatically show up on your dashboard prior to class.

GENERAL COURSE OVERVIEW AND APPROVALS

 Commercial Electrical Code – This course will cover a typical commercial electrical inspection from rough to final inspection. A code panel will also cover common commercial electrical code violations. Approved for Commercial Electrical Inspector, Industrial Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, Registered Electrician, Residential Journeyman Electrician, Residential Master Electrician, and UDC-Electrical Inspector.

 1 & 2 Family Electrical Code – This course will cover a typical 1&2 family electrical inspection from rough to final inspection. A code panel will also cover common residential electrical code violations.  Approved for Commercial Electrical Inspector, UDC-Electrical Inspector, Industrial Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, Registered Electrician, Residential Journeyman Electrician,  and Residential Master Electrician.

 Evening Electrical Code Lake Delton - Commercial.  A 3-hour Q & A Code Panel discussion will cover common commercial electrical issues which have been shared by the members of the Code Panel over the last several years. The topics will vary greatly and will help those in attendance to understand the codes relative to the issues.  Approved for Commercial Electrical Inspector, Industrial Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, Registered Electrician, Residential Journeyman Electrician, Residential Master Electrician, and UDC-Electrical Inspector.

 Evening Electrical Code Lake Delton - Residential.  A 3-hour Q & A Code Panel discussion will cover common residential electrical issues which have been shared by the members of the Code Panel over the last several years. The topics will vary greatly and will help those in attendance to understand the Codes relative to the issues.  Approved for Commercial Electrical Inspector, UDC-Electrical Inspector, Industrial Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, Registered Electrician, Residential Journeyman Electrician, and Residential Master Electrician.

 Uniform Dwelling Code – In addition to administrative updates from DSPS, guest speakers Dennis Jensen and Jim Sjolander will cover a typical 1&2 family home inspection.  Approved for UDC Building Inspector, Dwelling Contractor Qualifier, and UDC HVAC Inspector.

 Commercial Building Code – In addition to updates from DSPS Secretary, Dawn Crim, guest speakers Jim Sjolander, Marty King and Randy Dahmen will cover fire barriers & partitions, sprinkler systems and handicap accessibility codes.  Approved for Commercial Building Inspector and Dwelling Contractor Qualifier.

 Plumbing Code – In addition to administrative updates from DSPS, Tim Lamb and Bruce Meiners will cover plumbing plan review requirements, commercial kitchen plumbing issues and water pipe sizing.  Approved for Commercial Plumbing Inspector, UDC Plumbing Inspector, Journeyman Plumber / restricted appliance-service, and Master Plumber / restricted appliance-service.
